When creating an image for a blog post I used one of my older still lifes. Since it merely served as a background in this case, I only showed a section. Surprisingly, it looked so interesting that I examined the possibilities in more detail with other of my still lifes. The result is these new still lifes that I call fragments. They give the impression that the viewer is standing very close to the arrangement, perhaps to study a detail more closely. The elements are partially hidden from view, creating an impression of intimacy that is atypical of still lifes. Changing the positions of individual elements adds a certain dynamic to each series. In combination with the original artwork on which they are based, interesting wall decorations and mini galleries can be created that draw the viewer step by step deeper into the scene.
