Yellow buttercups – or Ranunculus, which is the official name – are so common in Europe in the spring and summer that we probably don’t see them anymore most of the time. But the flowers are very beautiful! The bright yellow color makes them look like little suns, which are shining between the grasses and other flowers.
For this painting, similar the daisies and the poppies, I chose a perspective from below, as if you were relaxing on the grass and enjoying the warm day. Just like the insect that sits on one of the flowers…
