Abstract-impressionist painting of poppies.
Another piece in my poppy series, which started a year ago with red poppies. Yellow and blue is a beautiful color combination, like the sun and the summer sky. I think they are cheerful colors, which can make a room a bit more lively, especially in a corner which lacks daylight.
The painting can nicely be combined with light or dark backgrounds and furniture, but will certainly be most striking on a white wall. The blue frame fits well with light brown wood, which is also a very subtle color contrast. After all, brown is a variation of orange, which stands opposite blue in the classic color wheel.
Like the preceding poppies paintings, this variation was also made with thick, undiluted paint and palette knives, the acrylic paintings placed on canvasboard in a loose manner. The result is wonderful structures and color effects, which only occur when the paint is applied, since they are not mixed before application.
