The third painting of catgrass within the “Field Impressions” series.
This grass continues to be a nice plant to paint. Not only because it seems to take in the surrounding colors and the light so well, but also because it is such a common plant. By painting cat grass so often with different backgrounds and light conditions, I realized what a beautiful plant it actually is.
Aside from the strong contrasts between light and shadow, I painted some more subtle color contrasts in the background: yellow ochre and yellow green contrasting with blue, blue green and blue violet. Since these are all cool colors, the painting has a cooler feel to it.
In case you make use of Pinterest, I would appreciate if you would pin one of the images below. They are all optimized for Pinterest.
This painting is created with acrylics on stretched canvas, with a finish of varnish. The sides are painted as well, as usual, so that it can be used without a frame.
