Linum (Flax)

The 9th painting of the series of field flowers and grasses shows the beauty of linum (flax).

I had to find out first what this plant is called, and I am still not entirely sure that it is indeed linum. It seems that there are several different sorts in countless forms and colors.

But whatever it is, it is a beautiful plant, which (in case it really is linum) is used as medical plant. Furthermore, most people probably know linseed oil, which is considered to be healthy.

I just liked the color and the very fine stripes on the petals, which are only visible if you look very close.

The painting is made with acrylics on stretched canvas. The sides are painted so that it can be hung on the wall without a frame. Size: 9.5 x 11.8 in (24 x 30 cm).
