A minimalistic landscape in the late summer.
A simple landscape without many complicated elements, just some hay bales. But since these hay bales are arranged in nice lines on the ground, the simple scene looks much more interesting.
The lines between the three elements – the sky in the background, the grass in the middleground and the cornfield in the foreground – go slightly upwards, and downwards respectively. This introduces even more tension in the painting.

The green color in the middle plays the role of a connector between the complementary colors blue and yellow ocher, so that the contrast from the colors is softened a bit.
