This is my second realistic portrait with a contrast between monochrome black-white and color.
I painted this more loosely than the one of the little boy, because I found it more suitable for this interesting face. It is not a young man and the short brushstrokes help to reflect the wrinkles, the roughness and the color differences of the skin.
The vertical stripe of color is less saturated and a bit lighter, to emphasize the impression of a higher age. Intense colors seem to be more a sign of youth, I think.
Which does not mean, that older people are less colorful, of course.
